National Compliance and Regulatory Authority
The National Compliance and Regulatory Authority (NCRA) is to inspect businesses which sell the sweets linked to Wednesday's food poisoning at the Clan Carthy High School in St. Andrew. A source at the NCRA told RJR News that expired sweets will be removed. It is unclear if further action will be taken against business operators found selling the expired candy.
Eighteen Clan Carthy High students were treated at hospital after eating the candy. One of them is said to be in critical condition. The Office of the Children's Advocate has written to Bureau of Standards Jamaica asking it to conduct tests on the sweets.
